Dorian Kelly was born into a musical family and began playing the trumpet at the age of six.
Having achieved grade 8 by the age of fourteen, he went on to study in London at the Royal College of Music (Junior Department) for two years and then Trinity College of Music for further three years.
Since leaving music college he has worked as a professional freelance trumpet player, performing a diverse range of music.
Highlights include performances with Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, Neil Diamond, Jamie Cullum, The Temptations and The Drifters.
Dorian began composing and arranging music in 1992. Original compositions include works for his own jazz quintet, the eleven piece jazz ensemble EPJ and the Pendulum Jazz Orchestra. Arranging work includes music for big bands, dance schools, brass ensembles, educational productions and jazz quartets.
Since finishing the Music For The Media Course Dorian has composed and recorded the music for eleven films and animations, completed numerous arrangements for various artists including Peter Grant and has tracks placed with library music companies all over the world.
Now a full-time composer/arranger, Dorian is comfortable in many styles but particularly enjoys creating orchestral, choral and jazz scores from his own studio, surrounded by the Pennine hills of West Yorkshire, in the UK.
