Internet Hollywood Sound Effects Pioneer Sounddogs.com Launches New Site

Launched in May 1997, Sounddogs.com, Inc. is proud to announce the third incarnation of its popular service soundeffects.sounddogs.com. Best known for its vast selection, Sounddogs' provides enhanced searching, sorting and instantly streamed mp3 previews on the new site.

You may not know know the Sounddogs' name or web site but you've heard their original sound recordings in hundreds of feature films dating back to Jerry Maguire, Titanic, and As Good As It Gets. Sounddogs has provided custom libraries to leading Sound Designers of such recent and upcoming films such as Real Steel, X-Men First Class, The Smurfs, Insidious, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Battleship, We Bought a Zoo, Machine Gun Preacher, Hancock, Kingdom, Race to Witch Mountain, and many more.

The new site features a large waveform viewer and audio player that enhances the previewing of sounds before purchase. Individual channels may be selected, this is especially good for polyphonic sound recordings of guns or on-board cars, tanks and airplanes. In layman's terms a gun could be recorded at the muzzle, five feet away, fifteen feet away, and one hundred feet away. The waveform player allows the user to select the individual channels and specific time points, in and out, of the sound file for preview and or purchase.

The site is a three tier web application on the Java platform that provides secure transactions through Paypal, and major Credit Cards. The open source back end uses MySQL for its database and JBoss as the Application Server.

Amalgamating Sounddogs' search engine of nearly 1,000,000 sound files with a robust application running via the web was a challenge that took two and half years to meet the demands of company founder, Rob Nokes who is a Hollywood sound professional with one hundred and twenty credits to his resume (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0634190/).
